4 tankers came off the track during heavy rain in a heavy commercial area.
A tanker train carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) derailed near the Chevron refinery in El Segundo, California on Thursday, January 12, 2017. The derailment occurred at around 2:30 p.m. near Douglas Street and Chapman Way. At least four cars jumped the track and their undercarriages were torn out.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or spills. Crews worked into the morning hours on Friday to lift the overturned cars. When three cars were raised from the tracks, no leaks and only cosmetic damage was discovered.
